EB-5 Facts: U.S. Citizenship is Not for Sale

Myth: The EB-5 program allows foreign nationals to “buy” American citizenship.

Fact: The EB-5 program does not offer citizenship for a price.

Instead, it provides foreign investors the opportunity to qualify for conditional permanent residency by making a $500,000 — $1,000,000 at-risk investment in a business that will create American jobs.

In order to qualify for the EB-5 program, this investment must be made at-risk to the investor and sustained throughout the conditional residence period — often five years or more.

If the investment meets job creation and other requirements at the end of the conditional residency period, investors can then qualify for permanent residency.
