When US-based fund managers want to expand overseas, there are a lot of key decisions that need to be made regarding choice of fund domiciliation, the use of special purpose vehicles, and overall investment or marketing strategy. Managers entering international markets may have difficulty anticipating what structure will be most advantageous because of a lack of understanding and data around what has worked in the past.

At JTC, we want to demystify international fundraising and fund formation, which is why we’re proud to sponsor an online event this month where recently-gathered data will be discussed in order to better understand how successful funds are operating abroad. The event is on September 23, 2021, and will feature a panel of expert speakers, including a representative from JTC.

The survey and panel discussion come from Fund Structuring International, a new publication for US alternative asset managers with an interest in fundraising overseas. The publication’s first survey on international fund structures is currently underway.

The more responses the survey receives, the better the data will be, so any US-based alternative asset managers with an interest in overseas expansion are encouraged to participate. The responses collected will fuel the discussion at the publication’s upcoming event sponsored by JTC:

September 23, 2021, 12pm EDT (5pm UK)

Discussion topics may include:

  • Fundraising opportunities and disruptors
  • Domiciliation & SP preferences
  • LPAC’s & co-investments
  • ManCos & fund structures

Scheduled panel speakers include:

  • Lynne Carreiro, Senior VP, Greyline Partners
  • Miles Edwards, General Counsel and CCO, Bruderman Brothers
  • Debra Franzese, Partner, Seward & Kissel

This event is a natural fit for us since these are areas where JTC specializes, and the survey can help our clients gain insight into current trends and strategies. The topics covered on the panel will be greatly influenced by responses from participating managers, so if you’re interested in attending, sign up for the event and take the survey today!
